3D Motion Capture Analysis
Ever wonder why some skinny players who have never lifted weights throw hard or have serious pop off the bat? It’s a good bet that these kids naturally move in a very distinct way that captures energy efficiently from the ground thru the core, torso arms and hands. There are many factors that can influence throwing velocity or bat speed but the single most important trait is a player’s kinetic chain sequencing and efficiency. If your body doesn’t capture energy and dispense it efficiently, it’s going to be very hard for you to throw hard or hit with pop.
So how do you identify a player’s kinetic chain sequencing and efficiency?
Let me introduce you to 3D motion capture. 3D motion capture is the most important tool a coach can use to help a pitcher or hitter gain throwing velocity or bat speed. We like to say that video is like an x-ray, but 3d Mo/Cap is like an MRI! It gives you the information to decipher what is going on beneath the obvious that you cannot get from 2d video and still shot pics.
Using 3D Mo/Cap, we are able to identify your kinetic chain sequencing and pinpoint any inefficiencies in your throwing and hitting mechanics that may be hampering your performance. It is, by far, the single most important thing a player can do to increase velo or increase bat speed. Lifting weights and doing long toss are great. We highly recommend it! But if you are getting stronger on top of an inefficient movement pattern, you are only capturing a fraction of your potential.
Set up your personal 3D Mo/Cap session today. Here is what you get:
1. A detailed analysis of your kinetic chain sequencing.
2. Angular velocities of your pelvis, torso, arm and hand.
3. High speed (960 fps) Slo/Mo video.
4. Drills to improve inefficient areas.
Questions:
What ages should do a 3D Mo/Cap Session?
All ages are welcome, especially important for younger players to get on the right track early.
Can I keep my hitting/pitching coach?
Of course. This information will better help your coach understand your personal movement profile so he/she can make the best instructional choices going forward.
Do you offer instruction?
Yes! If you are looking for high level instruction, we can help with that also. We offer single lessons or complete throwing and hitting programs to increase velocity or bat speed.
